Cuban talks about steroids in sports

Numerous athletes have been involved in steroids controversies, some them includes the big names in baseball and football, but for Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, steroids use in NBA is not yet widespread.

Mark Cuban recently visited William Pitt Union, where he graduated, to speak in front of hundreds of Pitt students and to answer questions thrown at him by the students. He visited the campus wearing a Pitt basketball shirt.

Cuban and his team were in town to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The game will be played at the Petersen Events Center.

Questions posed to him by students ranged from his days at the Pitt, his appearance on “Dancing with the Stars,” and NBA Commissioner David Stern’s decision to fine him with $1.5 million for criticizing NBA. However, the most controversial perhaps was his comment regarding the use of steroids in sport.

According to Cuban, he is not so against steroids as long as it is prescribed by a physician. He said that as long as it is used for a medical reason such as recovering from an injury, it is administered under proper supervision and it does not have any long-term damage, then steroids should not be totally shunned from the world of sports.

From Post Gazette:

I’ll get killed for saying this,” Cuban replied, “but I’m not so against steroids if they’re administered under proper supervision and there is no long-term damage.”
